Muscat, The number of active establishments covered by the social insurance system reached 16,542 at the end of August 2018.

The number of insured people in the private sector inside the Sultanate stood at 230,623 by the end of August. The number of insured during the current year and as of the end of August 2018 stood at 45,027.

The majority of active insured were concentrated in the 26-30-year category during August 2018, which constituted 22.7 percent of the total active insured. The average wage for the total active insured was

RO690.

Cases of severance of service, including termination, resignation, transfer to another employer, death or disability and other reasons during the year 2018 until the end of August, were 38,299.

The number of active insured persons in the common system of extending insurance protection to GCC citizens was 1.755 till the end of August 2018.

The number of active insured in the insurance system for Omanis working abroad and their equivalents was 47 cases until the end of August 2018.

The number of active insured persons in the insurance system for self-employed Omanis and their equivalents was 9,638 cases. The number of accumulative pensions paid as of the end of June 2018 stood at 16,575.

The disbursements for old-age pensions accounted for 42.9 per cent of the total pension until the end of August, followed by the non-vocational death rate of 31.3%, followed by cases of disability pension resulting from a non-occupational cause, accounting for 19.3 percent.

Disbursements for occupational disability pensions and professional death pensions constituted 2.8 percent and 3.7 percent respectively of total pension disbursements until the end of August 2018.

The number of cases where insurance benefits have been paid due to work injuries were (313) cases till the end of August. Traffic accidents formed 34.8% of the cases.
