Muscat, The number of commercial activities in various governorates of the Sultanate registered with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry during the third quarter of 2018 reached 158,609 activities, up by 4% compared to (152,359) during the same period of 2017.

The Department of Statistics at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry pointed out that the commercial activity during the third quarter of last year concentrated in the Governorate of Muscat, with 33.7 per cent of the total volume of commercial activity in the Sultanate, followed by the Governorate of North Al Batinah with 15.6 per cent, and the Governorate of Dhofar with 13.5 percent. The rest of the governorates were distributed according to the volume of commercial activity. The number of registered commercial activities in the Governorate of Al Wusta increased in the third quarter of 2018 due to the increase in investments in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry pointed out that the Governorate of Muscat recorded the highest number of activities with 53,530 activities, followed by Governorate of North Al Batinah with 24,810 activities, the Governorate of Dhofar with 21,394 activities, the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah with 13.326 activities, the Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah with 10.508 activities, the Governorate of South Al Batinah with 10.463 activities, the Governorate of North A’Sharqiyah with 9.385 activities, the Governorate of A’Dhahirah with 5.583 activities, the Governorate of Al Buraimi with 5.554, the Governorate of Al Wusta with 2.372 and the Governorate of Musandam with 1.684 activities.
