Ibri, A seminar on “Investment in the Food Security Sector and
Business Opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises” was held at the branch of Oman
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in the Governorate of A’Dhahirah today. The
seminar was held under the patronage of Dr. Fuad bin Jaafar al- Sagwani, Minister of
Agriculture and Fisheries.
Saif bin Said al- Badi, OCCI Board Member and Head of A’Dhahirah Branch made a
speech during which he explained that the food security sector is considered an important
sector in the national economy and hence the seminar was organized to shed light on this
sector, and to study the ways to invest in it, in addition to effectively developing it, as it is
hoped that it will meet the requirements of growth and local consumption, and support the
stability of food prices in domestic markets.
During the seminar, working papers were presented with the participation of Omani Food
Investment Holding Company, Mazoon Dairy Company, Namaa Poultry Company and
Oman Technology Fund.
The working papers dealt with investment opportunities in the food security sector in the
Governorate of A’Dhahirah, familiarizing businessmen and business women with the
business opportunities available to small and medium enterprises, in addition to the
projects of companies participating in the field of investment in the food industry and its
future work, as well as the business opportunities offered to small and medium enterprises
were also identified.
