NMHEWS Issues Report No. 1 on Arabian Sea

Muscat, Latest observations and satellite

imageries showed development of tropical low pressure area with

surface wind speed ranging from 17 to 25 knots located southeast of

the Arabian Sea at latitude 9.0N and longitude 60.0E. The centre of

the tropical depression is 1000 km away from Salalah city. The nearest

convective clouds to Salalah city is 530 km. All indications show no

direct effect on the Sultanate in the next coming three days, the

National Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (NMHEWS) said.

Weather maps and numerical weather prediction suggest further

development as the system moves westerly to northwesterly towards

the coast of the Governorates of Al Wusta and Dhofar.

NMHEWS keeps monitoring all the updates of the tropical

event. Further, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) advices all

to follow the weather bulletins and reports.
