Muscat, The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) today organized a seminar on the specification of Omani Khanjar (Dagger) under the theme ‘ Khanjar, a Culture and Identity”. The seminar discussed the Omani Khanjar specifications and the legal framework for the inspection procedures.
The seminar opening was held under the sponsorship of Mohsen bin Khamis al- Balushi, Advisor at the MoCI who pointed out that the seminar aims at briefing those working in the field of manufacturing the Omani Khanjar on the Omani specifications which have been approved and for which a ministerial decision was made. He pointed out in statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the Ministry has locally registered the intellectual property for about 280 commodities. Work is underway with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to register and protect them internationally.
The seminar included a presentation on the Omani Khanjar and a working paper on the standard specifications for Omani Khanjar. It also included a working paper on the legal framework for the inspection procedures.
