Muscat, The Maritime Security Center carried out the (Maritime Security Exercise 2018), which took place in A’Duqm area in the Omani Territorial Sea (Arabian Sea), with the participation of a number of corps of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and other security services, with the participation of forces from the USA.
The objective of the exercise is to coordinate and unify the efforts and complementary work of all concerned parties to combat maritime security threats and ensure the safety of maritime shipping lines. The course of the exercise events and plans of implementation have been set to achieve the targeted national objectives and in accordance with the duties assigned to participating military and security institutions and agencies.
The activities of the exercise were followed up by Commodore Said bin Abdullah al- Saaedi, Acting Commander of the Royal Oman Navy, who listened to a summary of the exercise activities.
Then he learned about the roles played by the participating parties in the exercise and represented at the Maritime Security Center.
It is worth mentioning that the Maritime Security Center is concerned with developing the necessary mechanisms to secure ports, installations and coasts against marine security threats with the participation of maritime security authorities.
