Man United Strikes Late, Beats Juventus

Turin, Manchester United scored a 2-1 victory

over Juventus in the UEFA Champions League with a goal by free-kick

by Juan Mata and Alex Sandro’s opposite goal to revive the winner’s

hopes of reaching round 16 of the championship.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the lead with a shot in the 65th

minute after Juventus dominated the match.

Jose Mourinho’s crew looked very harmless on the offensive

level, but the Portuguese coach pushed Mata, Marwan Villaini and

Marcus Rushford before the end of the game to lead an unexpected

return in the result and restore the atmosphere of the epic victory 3/2

against the same rival in Turin in the semi-finals of the 1999 version

after Man United was late by two goals.

The sudden awakening of Manchester United prevented

Juventus from confirming first place in the group and securing the

qualification to the round 16 and turned Group 8 upside down.

Juventus remain in the lead with nine points but Man United are

second with seven points, two points ahead of third-placed Valencia.

Young Boys are on the bottom of the table and are out of competition.

Man United became the first British team to beat Juventus in their

home in 15 years, the last to do so, led by Ryan Giggs when beating 3

-0 in Stadio delle Alpi in 2003.
