Cairo, The sister of the late writer Makawi Said,
found an unpublished collection of stories, Said preserved on his
personal computer.
The collection will be released on the first anniversary of Said’s
death in December, coinciding with the release of a new edition of his
series “Running After Light,” his first literary production.
Makawi Said’s writing journey began in the late 1970s when he
was a student at the Faculty of Commerce at Cairo University in 1979.
He wrote the short story, influenced by Yusuf Idris, Maxim Gorky and
Chekhov. He won awards in the story club competitions in Cairo. He
put his hand after that in different writing genre. He wrote novel,
novella, children literature, scenario, criticism, articles and short stories.
Some of his works have been translated into English, French, German,
Croatian and Chinese.
