Sohar, The Fisheries Development Department in
the Wilayat of Sohar, in cooperation with the Local Committee for See
Traditions, today celebrated the opening of ice making unit in Majees
village under the auspices of Dr. Hamad bin Said al-Oufi,
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for
Fisheries. The unit was financed by Majees Industrial Services
Company.
Eng. Abdullatif bin Mohammed al-Balushi, Director of Fish
Development Department in Sohar delivered a speech where he
pointed out that the integrated electrical unit connected to a main
control room and a room for storing ice, will produce 10 tons of ice per
day, as per high standards. The production will meet the needs of the
fishermen in Majees and nearby villages in the Wilayat of Sohar.
The event included a presentation on the project. The
participants and relevant public and private stakeholders involved in
the implementation of the project were honoured.
The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Muhanna bin Saif al-
Lamki, Governor of North Al Batinah, members at Majlis A’Shura, walis,
sheikhs and dignitaries.
