Muscat, The economic cycle of the knowledge based economy is achieved through education, scientific research , innovation and development, said Dr. Ali bin A’mer al- Shithani, Director of the Research Centers Division at The Research Council (TRC) during the press conference which was held today at TRC HQs’.

He added that TRC seeks to bridge the gap between public, private and academic sectors by providing economic incentives and creating knowledge-based investment friendly environment.

He noted that the TRC plays a key role by transferring funds into specialized research knowledge and providing support to knowledge by transferring it to funds through innovation and development.

‘ The Sultanate came 85th from among 127 states in terms of expenditure on scientific research and development. TRC supervises a number of projects in cooperation with the private sector. The first of these projects is the upgrade project which transforms students’ graduation projects into emerging companies in IT&C. It also seeks to guide the graduation projects to areas connected to the needs of the industrial sector. The second project is the Smart City Platform Project which is a joint knowledge platform that enhances the smart cities projects in the Sultanate, improves the standard of living and develop innovative solutions that address the challenges facing the cities and ensure sustainability.

The third project ” Eejad’ aims at lining the academic researchers to the industry needs and enhancing the industry �industry and industry-academic cooperation and enhancing the in-country value at the scientific side.
