Tokyo, It wasn’t any regular matchday in

Japan as fans packed out the stands to watch Vissel Kobe take on

Shonan Bellmare, and to see Andres Iniesta make his debut.

The former Barcelona man’s new team needed a win to help

them in their fight to finish in the top three and qualify for the AFC

Champions League, but a 3-0 defeat left them five points off third spot

and in sixth.

Fans still went wild as Iniesta warmed up on the touchline, going

through his paces at the Noevir Stadium Kobe throughout the first half

and early in the second.

A quick opener for the visitors and a second early in the second

half didn’t dampen the atmosphere as Iniesta was introduced in the

58th minute, 30,000 fans rising to their feet to applaud their new

signing.

They were left in awe of Iniesta’s quality as he looked a threat

despite his team conceding a third goal only eight minutes after his

introduction.

Despite being the most dangerous in attack, Iniesta couldn’t

quite feed in his teammates to pull one back, though he did hit the

post with a volley.

He may have started with a defeat, but Iniesta has already shown

the excitement he can generate in Japan, the Spanish MARCA

newspaper reported.
