HJI Organizes Seminar on Settlement of Labor Disputes in Omani Legislation

Nizwa, The Higher Judicial Institute (HJI) in the Wilayat of Nizwa, in the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah, in cooperation with the Ministry of Manpower, organized a seminar on “Mechanisms for the Settlement of Labor Disputes in Omani Legislation” under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser al- Bakri, Minister of manpower, Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al- Khalili, Minister of Justice and Chairman of HJI Board, a number of undersecretaries and judges.

Dr. Nabhan bin Rashid al- Ma’awali, Dean of the Higher Judicial Institute, said: “The seminar is a translation of the cooperation program as part of the joint efforts between the institute and the initiative for development and improvement of the Judicial System in the Omani Labor Market, one of the initiatives of labour market and employment in the National program for Enhancing Economic diversification pursued and supported by the Implementation Support and Follow-up Unit.

The seminar included three topics, including the specificities of litigation procedures in labor disputes and the role of non-judicial jurisdictions in the settlement of disputes and arbitration in the field of labor disputes.

The seminar was held in order to introduce the mechanisms of settling labor disputes in the Sultanate and to enable specialists and those interested in the field of labor disputes to become familiar with disputes settlement mechanisms and procedures in order to clarify the legal protections provided by the Omani legislator to the worker in case of claiming his rights .
