Higher Education Minister Sponsors Presentation Ceremony of HM Cup for Scouting and Guidance Excellence Competition

Muscat, Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, Dr. Rawya bint Saud al-Busaidiya, Minister of Higher Education, today patronized at the Ministry of Education auditorium in Al Wattiyah over the ceremony of the Ministry of Education to hand over Scouting and Guidance Excellence Competition for His Majesty’s Cup (the Greatest Scout of the Sultanate) for the academic year 2017/2018, in the presence of Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed al-Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education.

The award presentation ceremony started with the Royal National Anthem performed by the Scouts Musical Band.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan al- Toobi, Advisor to the Ministry of Education and Chairman of the Main Committee to supervise the Scouting and Guidance Excellence Award for His Majesty’s Cup ( the Greatest Scout of the Sultanate) said in his speech,” The Scouting and Guidance Movement has flourished in the Sultanate and has been honored since His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said gave directives to name a cup bearing his name in 2007, which led that all the Scout and Guidance Commissions in the various directorates general of education in the governorates to strive with great diligence to have the honor of winning it, and strengthened the spirit of honest competition, to work on refining talents and skills development, and raising efficiency among the Scout and Guidance Commissions in the directorates general of education”.

At the end of the ceremony the Scouts and Guides of Oman renewed their pledge of loyalty, obedience and gratitude to the builder of the Renaissance of Oman, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, by chanting the scouting and guiding promise.

Then, the Minister of Higher Education crowned the Governorate of North Al Batinah with the Greatest Scout Cup and awarded the other five scout commissions which won the trophies of excellence. They are the commission of the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah, which came second, followed by Governorate of South Al Batinah in the third place, the Governorate of Musandam in the fourth place and the Governorate of Dhofar in the fifth place. She also awarded local committees in the Directorate General of Education which won the competition, in addition to scout units and heads of their boards and leaders and the sixers and pioneers.

Dr. Rawya bint Saud al- Busaidiya, Minister of Higher Education, said: “We congratulate the Scouts and Guidance Commission of the Governorate of North Al Batinah for winning the Great Scout Cup for Scouting and Guidance Excellence Award for the academic year 2017/2018 and for the other Scout commissions that won this competition.”

The ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, honourable members of the State Council, members of Majlis A’Shura, undersecretaries, advisors, a number of officials of the Ministry of Education, and the honorees at the ceremony.
