Muscat: HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, received Arsenio Domínguez, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and his accompanying delegation.
According to Oman News Agency, HH Sayyid Fahd expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s appreciation for the pivotal role of the IMO in promoting marine navigation and ensuring the safety of passengers and sea voyages across international waters. He emphasized Oman’s ongoing commitment to collaborate with the IMO to enhance maritime transport, secure navigation routes, and address associated challenges.
During the meeting, the Secretary General of the IMO highlighted Oman’s esteemed position as a regional maritime hub, which plays a key role in ensuring the security and safety of international maritime routes in the region. He noted the significance of this visit in facilitating discussions with Omani officials to bolster support for Oman’s candidacy for Category (C) membership in the executive
council of the IMO.
The meeting was attended by Eng. Said Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and Eng. Khamis Mohammed Al Shamakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
