Former Minister Albert Sarhan said during the handover ceremony at the Ministry of Justice that it is the first time a woman has ever been assigned the Ministry of Justice portfolio.
"The Ministry of Justice is the mother of all ministries, as it is in direct and indirect contact with public utilities, in addition to its participation in legislation," he said, stressing that "combating corruption was one of our core tasks in the Ministry of Justice and it was my job to urge judges to give great importance to corruption files."
"We worked to purify the judicial body as much as possible," Sarhan stressed.
Minister Marie-Claude Najm, in turn, said "trust is built with stability, and the transparency of the judiciary is essential to stability."
"The independence of the judiciary is one of the primary goals of the current government, and I will do everything necessary to strengthen it," she pledged.
