Muscat, The GCC Tourism Undersecretaries held

their preparatory meeting in Muscat today under the chair of Maitha

bint Saif Al-Mahrooqi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism.

In her opening speech, she explained that this meeting comes as a

continuation of the exerted efforts to unify activities and upgrade the

tourism sector in the GCC countries, and in order to follow up what was

studied and approved at the third meeting, held at the headquarters of

the GCC Secretariat General in Riyadh in 2016.

The meeting reviewed a follow up report of implementing the third

meeting's decisions of the Ministers Responsible for Tourism held in

Riyadh and the summary report on the implementation of an executive

plan for the comprehensive vision of joint tourism work among the GCC

States.

The meeting reviewed the previous proposals and perceptions

related to the designation and selection of a Gulf city each year to

become the capital of the Gulf tourism. It also reviewed the proposals

related to the establishment of a program of initiatives and events that

promote belonging and citizenship, entitled "Experiencing the Gulf".
