Muscat, The GCC Statistical Center today

inaugurated its spatial platform for sustainable development goals

(SDG) indicators for the GCC countries.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr.

Abdul Latif bin Rashid al-Zayani, GCC Secretary General. He who

explained in his speech that the spatial platform for the GCC SDGs is

one of the tools by which the status of the GCC countries can be

measured in the path of achieving the SDGs.

Saber bin Saeed al-Harbi, Director General of the GCC Statistical

Center said that launching the spatial platform for SDGs indicators

comes within the Center's quest for diversity in methods of

dissemination and availability of data.

He added the platform aims to monitor progress towards

achieving the

SDGs in the GCC countries and to support decision makers and policy

makers at the GCC level to facilitate inter-GCC comparisons.

He pointed out that the platform provides official statistics with

accuracy and credibility, including (100) indicators out of (241)

indicators of the SDGs, which are updated periodically within a system

of maps interaction tools and graphical display tools that help the

beneficiaries to flexibly use these data.
