A spokesman for the Electricity Companyin the Gaza Strip, Mohammad Thabet, said today that the only power station in the Strip has stopped after running out of fuel, five days after Israel closed a crossing with the Palestinian enclave, according to Agence France-Presse.

He said: “The power plant in Gaza has stopped due to a shortage of fuel, and the electricity will be cut off for 16 hours.”
