Erdogan Invites Trump to Visit Turkey

Washington, The White House announced that

the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan invited his US counterpart

Donald Trump to visit Turkey in 2019.

The German News Agency said today that the invitation comes after

Trump and Erdogan discussed earlier this week the withdrawal of US

troops from Syria, a move that raised fears among regional partners

and caused the resignation of Defense Minister James Matisse.

Trump said yesterday in a telephone conversation with Erdogan that

he had discussed “a slow and very coordinated withdrawal of US

troops from the region.”

For his part, Erdogan said that Trump agreed to strengthen

coordination in Syria during this call.
