Posted on September 30, 2018

Muscat, Duqm Refinery’s In-Country Value Opportunities Exhibition was inaugurated today at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.

The exhibition showcases business and training opportunities for SME’s and young Omanis. These opportunities are in line with national objectives of prioritizing opportunities that would arise from construction work of the project to be dedicated to growing local businesses and up skill youth. The exhibition in Muscat is a follow up to a similar forum organized in Duqm a week ago.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Eng. Salim bin Nasser al-Aufi, Undersecretary, Ministry of Oil and Gas.

Al Aufi hailed the positive role played by Duqm Refinery in the local community and the positive feedback on the ICV forum held the week before in Duqm Crowne Plaza which lasted for three days. On this occasion, Al Aufi stated Duqm Refinery In-Country Value Program comes as part of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said’s attention given to develop local human capital and local SMEs as two of the main pillars to build strong economy in the Sultanate. Also, the program aims at showcasing the opportunities for Omani youth so that they can compete on the ones that fit their specializations and future aspirations.

He furthered In-Country Value program plays an important role in further strengthening the national economy by providing the chance for SMEs to contribute on building mega projects. These programs also prepare national manpower to work in the major economic projects in the country as one of the main factors for its success.

The recent Duqm Refinery ICV event in Duqm succeeded in attracting many youngsters who sought business and training opportunities in the project. The Muscat ICV exhibition aims at reaching wider sections of Omani youth to know more about those opportunities and to meet with the company officials to have a clear image about those opportunities. The event will last for two days (30th September and 1st of October) at Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.

This support can be seen in the business and training opportunities for Omani youth to prove themselves and to benefit from those opportunities during construction phase and after the operational phases.

We are glad to see the positive interaction from the local community on social media and in the event held recently in Duqm and we look forward to contribute in the development of Oman’s economy and the Omani youth to become business and industry leaders in the future.
