Djokovic Beats Zverev, Reaches ATP Masters Semi-finals

London, Novak Djokovic, the world’s number one,

became the first man to reach the semi-finals of the ATP Finals after

defeating third seeded the German Alexander Zverev ,6-4, 6-1.

In the second round of Guga Kuerten group, Djokovic, 31, who is

seeking to equalize Roger Federer’s record in the number of titles (6

titles), has no difficulty defeating, for the second time, Zverev . It took

him only an hour and 17 minutes.

Zverev beat Djokovic in their first match in the final of the 1000th

round of the Masters in Rome 2017 (6-4, 6-3). The latter revenged in

the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters 2018 and won (6-2, 6-1).

In the first round, Djokovic beat American John Esner (2 hrs.08min)

for the ninth time in 11 encounters, while Alexander Zverev defeated

Croatia’s Marin Celic, 6-6 (7-5), 7- 6(7-1).

Djokovic will meet Celic in the third round on Friday, while Zverev will

face Eisner. Djokovic won the masters title in five occasions: 2008,

2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Masters and a runner up in 2016.
