Salalah, An annex on amendment to some articles
of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase the amount of
RO 512,225 for the construction of water desalination plant in the
Wilayat of Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands was signed at the Office
of the Minister of State, Governor of Dhofar today.
The MoU was signed by Abdullah bin Aqeel al-Ibrahim, Acting
Deputy Governor of Dhofar and Abdul-Amir Abdul-Hussein al-Ajmi,
External Affairs and Value Creation Director at Petroleum Development
Oman (PDO).
The provisions of the amended MoU include increasing the
amount of the project of constructing a desalination plant, buildings
and water networks in different sizes, in addition to supplying and
installing a desalination plant with a capacity of 1500 cubic meters per
day, as well as supplying and installing submersible pumps for
operating water wells feeding the plant in the Wilayat of Shaleem and
Al Halaniyat Islands.
The signing of the amendment to some of provisions of the MoU
comes as a complement to the project agreed on in 2015 between the
Office of the Minister of State, Governor of Dhofar and PDO, which
provides potable water to residents of Zakhar, Agarit and the
surrounding areas of the Wilayat of Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands
to cover the shortage and improve water quality.
