Jowzjan, Afghanistan, More than 150 Da’ash

militants in northern Afghanistan surrendered to the Afghani

government forces in a move considered as “an end to the extremist

organization” in the region.

“They have surrendered in the past, but this time it is more important

because their commander and deputy have surrendered with more

than 150 militants,” the spokesman of the 209- Afghan battalion,

Mohammad Hanif Rezai, was quoted as saying by Agence France-

Presse.

There was fierce fighting between the militant group and Taliban in

the Jowzjan province, with pressure from the Afghani and US forces on

both organizations.
