It didn’t force him off as the match was ongoing, yet in the aftermath of the result it became clear through a picture released on social media that the extent of the gash on Ronaldo’s leg was rather deep indeed.

Manchester United struggled to lay a glove on an Everton team that was buoyed by a fearsome home crowd, desperate to propel their team towards the safety line.

It’s unclear in just what collision the Portuguese international suffered the injury, but the aforementioned image highlighted a deep laceration on his shin, the Spanish MARCA newspaper reported.
