Saint Petersburg, The National Museum launched a specialised corner at Saint Petersburg State University in the Russian Federation for a collection of Omani publications highlighting different fields.
The move comes within the framework of cultural cooperation between the National Museum and Saint Petersburg State University, represented by the Institute of Oriental Studies.
The corner aims to empower students within the field of Omani studies, and provide them with knowledge on the cultural and intellectual aspects of the Sultanate of Oman, thus contributing to extending bridges between the two countries.
Saint Petersburg State University is a Russian public university headquartered in Saint Petersburg. It is considered one of the oldest and largest universities in the Russian Federation. It consists of twenty-four specialised colleges, thirteen research institutes, the Classical Academy School, and the Department of Physical Education and Sports. In 2010, the university faculty consisted of 6755 members.
The Institute of Oriental Studies is supervised by Professor Dr. Mikhail Piotrovskiy, Director General of the Hermitage Museum and member of the National Museums’ Board of Trustees in the Sultanate of Oman.
