Muscat, The Consultative Meeting between Ministers of Commerce and Industry and Heads of GCC Unions and Chambers of Commerce and Industry was held this evening at the W Muscat Hotel.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ali bin Masoud al-Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry, who expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts exerted by the GCC unions of chambers in preparing for the meeting, wishing that the meeting would be successful to promote the growth of the economic sector in the GCC countries for the benefit of all.

For his part, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid al- Zayani, GCC Secretary-General, said that the meeting aims at enhancing economic cooperation and integration among the member states in order to serve the interests of their citizens and to examine all constructive visions and ideas to open the horizons of joint Gulf action, overcome obstacles and build bridges between the public and private sectors of the GCC countries in compliance with the directives of the GCC leaders.

Dr. Sami bin Abdullah al-Oubaidi, Vice-President of the Federation of GCC Chambers, said that the meeting aims to find the maximum possible harmony between the efforts and aspirations of the private sector on the one hand and the views of the GCC states on the other. He explained that cooperation between the two parties is dictated by the logic of things and benefits both governments and the private sectors so that the winner in the end are the Gulf States.

During the meeting, they discussed a number of topics of interest to the industrial sector, logistics, e-commerce and the principles of Gulf economic integration, as well as taking advantage of international standards applied in developed countries, especially in the field of vehicles, medicines and electronics.
