Muscat, A conference on Modern Strategies of Risk Management began today under the patronage of Sheikh Khalid bin Omar al-Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service.

The three-day conference aims to introduce principles of crises, disasters management and relevant operations to their management, to mitigate their impact, and identify roles and responsibilities of those participating in their management.

Sheikh al-Marhoon stressed the importance of organizing such conferences and their role in enhancing the capabilities of workers in various sectors to deal with any new developments in environment and health aspects.

The conference aims to familiarize participants with the development of an integrated and systematic framework for managing potential crises and disasters and the need for institutions and organizations to adopt an early warning mechanism for such crises.

GCC and regional academic and technical institutions are taking part in the conference to showcase successful experiences in crises and disasters management.

Two workshops were held, the first of which was titled "Implementing the Five Golden Laws for Emergency Relief" and the second was themed "Media Management of Risks and Crises".

The opening ceremony was attended by undersecretaries and public and private officials.
