The President of the Council of Ministers Saad Hariri chaired this afternoon at the Grand Serail the ministerial committee in charge of studying the financial and economic reforms, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Ghassan Hasbani, ministers Ali Hassan Khalil, Mohammad Fneish, Jamal Jarrah, Mansour Bteich, Mohammed Choucair, Salim Jreissati, Wael Abou Faour, Youssef Fenianos, Camille Abu Suleiman and Adel Afiouni and a number of advisors.
After the meeting, Minister Jarrah said: The committee continued today the discussion of the economic and financial reforms, and some figures were requested from the Minister of Finance who will provide them in the Cabinet meeting that will be held tomorrow or in the next meeting of the reforms committee. Now there is a meeting for the electricity committee in an attempt to advance the electricity plan that will provide a significant budget saving. I think tomorrow's session will also see significant progress.
Asked if they will be able to meet the October 15 deadline to complete the budget, he said: In fact, the idea that the constitution set the budget deadline for the Tuesday that follows October 15was raised today. We are doing our best to complete the budget by October 15, but if we could not, the Constitution allows us a few additional days that we may or may not use. If we finish by October 15 we would have accomplished a great achievement.
