Chelsea Close in on Koulibaly to Plug Rudiger, Christensen Gaps

London, Chelsea are now beginning to address the gap in the team after the departure of Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid and Andreas Christensen to Barcelona.

The American owners of Chelsea club have headed to Europe and have rolled up their sleeves to give the German coach Thomas Tuchel the necessary reinforcements to face the season.

They have 225 million euros to spend and they are going to spend it. The centre of defence is the area to invest in as it only has two members, Thiago Silva and Trevor Chalobah, at the moment.

To complement the veteran Brazilian centre-back and the young English youth player, the Blues are about to sign Kalidou Koulibaly, the Spanish MARCA newspaper reported.

The Senegalese defender will soon join Chelsea for 38m to 40m euros and sign until 2027, according to Sky Sports.

After shining for eight years at the Stadio Armando Diego Maradona, the 31-year-old will swap the Italian Serie A for the English Premier League (EPL).

Koulibaly will be the first centre-back to arrive at Stamford Bridge but not the last.

Now that the option of Matthijs de Ligt has been ruled out, the options are Jules Kounde (Sevilla), Nathan Ake (Manchester City) and Presnel Kimpembe (PSG).

After completing the signings of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City and Koulibaly, Chelsea will be closer to building the squad they need.

A replacement for Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku is on the list as well.
