London, Arsenal have a new forward, with the London-based club having announced the signing of Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian forward wanted to leave Manchester City this summer. While he was briefly linked with Real Madrid, he has ultimately joined Arsenal and will lead their new project under Mikel Arteta, the Spanish MARCA newspaper reported.

“I’m very excited, as the club has done a tremendous job to recruit a player of this stature,” Arteta said of the signing.

Arteta added, “I know Gabriel personally very well, and we all know him well from his time in the Premier League and being really successful here.”

“This is a position that’s been on our radar for a long time now and we have managed to get a player that we all wanted, so I’m really happy,” Arteta said.

Technical director Edu also expressed his delight in bringing his countryman to the Emirates.
