Arab Women Organization Holds it 16th Meeting in Muscat

Muscat, The Executive Council of the Arab Women Organization (AWO), discussed at its 16th ordinary meeting held today at Al Bustan Palace Hotel, a number of issues related to empowering women and enhancing their development contributions.

The delegation of the Sultanate was led by Sheikha Ayesha bint Khalfan al-Siyabiyah, Chairperson of Public Authority for Craft Industries (PACI).

The Executive Council of the Arab Women Organization (AWO) reviewed a number of items on its agenda. The Directorate General of the Arab Women Organization (AWO) approved the naming of “Muscat Days” for all the organization’s activities during the Sultanate’s hosting of the 7th Conference of the Arab Women Organization.

The Executive Council addressed the implementation indicators of the Organization’s community initiatives, such as the Women’s Peace and Security Program organized by the Department of Women, Family and Childhood, in cooperation with the United Nations Regional Office.

The Executive Council of the Arab Women Organization reviewed the recommendations issued by the Committee for the Permanent Youth of the Arab Women Organization.

The meeting included a speech by the Director-General of the Arab Women Organization, Dr. Fadia Kiwan, in which she explained the importance of implementing joint initiatives to maximize the social return of projects and improve women’s empowerment initiatives while promoting projects and programs in the areas of community awareness.

The agenda also included a speech by Naziha bint Al Tayeb al- Oubaidi, Minister of Woman and Family in Tunis and the Chairperson of the Executive Council of the Arab Women Organization, in which she mentioned the importance of cooperation between the Member States in order to enrich joint regional action.
