Salalah, A training course entitled “Media

Professional Coverage of Natural Crises: Omani Experience as a

Modal” was held at the Rotana Hotel in Salalah today. The course is

organised within the framework of the Arab Media Forum organised by

the Omani Journalists Association (OJA), in cooperation with the Arab

Journalists Union (AJU).

The programme of the course, which involves journalists from

inside and outside the Sultanate, includes a range of themes, namely

“Media Professional Coverage of Natural Crises: Omani Experience as

a Modal,” “Coordination and Integration among Media and Government

Institutions in the Protection of the Society” and “Media Responsibility

in Dealing with Victims”.

The course’s programme also includes addressing journalism

ethics, means of countering rumors and fabricated news, and the

responsibility of media to promote civil peace, and the psychological

integrity for journalists during and after crises.

The training course aims at highlighting the experience of the

Sultanate in dealing with crises (tropical cyclone Mekunu), as well as

highlighting the effective and influential role of the media, enhancing

skills and abilities of Arab journalists in dealing with crises and sharing

experiences among Arab journalists.
