Cairo, The 150th session of the Arab League Council was opened today at the level of permanent representatives headed by Sudan and attended by the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
The Sultanate was represented at the meeting by Dr. Ali bin Ahmed al-Issai, Sultanate’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League.
Abdul Mahmood Abdul Halim, the Sudanese Ambassador to Cairo and its representative to the Arab League called for urgent Arab action to avoid the consequences of the American decision to stop the funding of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The Sudanese delegate pointed out that this deficit affects the services provided to the Palestinian people and it is necessary to ensure the provision of the educational, social, health and humanitarian rights that UNRWA has provided to the millions of the Palestinian people.
