The Arab conference of sustainable cities starts today under the patronage of Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Shabibi, Minister of Housing, in the presence of a number of officials and dignitaries. The event is organized at Salalah Mellinnium Resort.
The two- day event titled the role of urban development partners in achieving urban sustainable development. The conference is attended by More than 200 participants from seven Arab countries and includes several sessions mainly on urban planning strategies, the role of real estate developers in developing sustainable cities, in addition to local and regional models of urban development partners.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Abdul Khader Al Hadad, Vice President of Dhofar Municipality said The aim of the conference is to exchange issues in urban development and sustainable cities with stakeholders in the Arab world. It is aimed at exploiting several potentials without affecting the lifestyle of others.
The event also comprised of a number workshops on topics including spatial information and taking decisions and also managing construction enterprises.
The conference aims at enhancing the partnership between public and private sector in developing urban cities.
