Active Establishments Increase to 16726 till February

Muscat, The number of active establishments covered by the social insurance system increased to 16726 establishments due to the increase of the youth tendency to open private projects, according to the latest statistics issued by the Public Authority for Social Insurance at the end of February 2018.

This was reflected in an increase in the number of active insureds working in the private sector in the Sultanate, which reached 224966, with a total of registration cases amounted to 11565 cases.

The majority of active insureds is focused in the age group (26-30) years, with 23.8% of the total active insureds, and the average wage for the total active insureds was RO688.

As for the severance cases (for employees of the private sector within the Sultanate), there were 9237 cases of severance from service, including termination of service, resignation, transfer to another employer and termination of service due to death or disability and termination of service for other reasons during the year 2018 until the end of February.

Indicators of active insureds in the system of extending insurance protection for citizens of the GCC countries increased. The number of active insureds were 1849 cases and the number of active insureds in the insurance system for Omani self-employed and their equivalents were 34 insureds.

The number of active insureds in the Omani self-employed insurance scheme and their equivalents were 9653 until the end of February 2018.

In terms of indicators of beneficiaries of the insurance benefits, the number of cumulative pension cases issued to “entrants in all insurance systems” reached about 15789 by the end of February 2018. The cases of old age pension accounted for 42.6% of the total number of pension cases followed by the death cases for non-occupational reasons at 31.6% of the total, followed by cases of disability pension due to unprofessional reasons, which accounted for 19.2%.

While the cases of disbursement of occupational disability pensions and occupational death pensions accounted for 2.8 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively, of the total number of pension payments. The number of cases of insurance benefits due to work injuries was 93 cases, of which 35.5 percent were traffic accidents.
