Minister of Public Health Firas Abiad affirmed that “the health of the citizen and the country as a whole is covered by a black cloud, and we all, as a government or citizens, work to overcome the current crisis well.”
In response to a question about the capital control that was approved in the last cabinet session, he said: “It is natural that not everyone agrees on all points, but the most important thing is what President Najib Mikati said… We are in the elections stage and it is necessary to stay away from populism.”
Regarding negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, Abiad noted that Lebanon is “in an advanced stage”, stressing that everyone agrees on the necessity of success.
Regarding the situation of Coronavirus in Lebanon, the minister announced that the numbers are “decreasing”, disclosing that next Monday he will hold a press conference during which he will announce the easing of the new procedures and strategy in the next stage and the possibility of not wearing masks in public places that are not crowded or closed.
