The Second Royal Hospital International Conference will kick off at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center today (Thursday) under the patronage of Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq al-Said, Advisor of His Majesty the Sultan, Chairman of the Research Council. The conference is organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Royal Hospital, in cooperation with the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB), the Oman Medical Association along with government and private health institutions.
The opening ceremony will include speeches of Dr. Qasim al-Salmi, Director of the Royal Hospital, Dr. Bassim al-Bahrani, Head of Organizing Committee of the Conferenc along with a scientific lecture about innovation in patient safety delivered by Professor the Lord Darzi of Denham, Director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London. The three-day conference aims to review the latest developments in medicine, draw upon the regional and international expertise and learn about the newest techniques, medications and devices of the pharmaceutical companies. The conference will include simultaneously a series of conferences of most specialties of the Royal Hospital.
The conference targets medical and paramedical staff from the Royal Hospital, the health institutions in the Sultanate, the private sector and civil associations. More than 400 international and local speakers specialized in different medical specialties will take part in the conference. Through (18) workshops, (120) scientific sessions and (400) lectures, the conference will discuss many specialized topics including the anesthesia, critical care, medical responsibility, pediatric, internal medicine, hyperbaric medicine, quality and patient safety, histopathology, oncology, nursing, gynecology, pharmacy, general surgery, urology, radiology and molecular Imaging, nuclear medicine, staff health and wellness, as well as administrative and financial Affairs. Workshops related to the urology and scientific research started at the lectures hall of the Royal Hospital today before the inauguration ceremony.
