Muscat, The Oman 2040 Target-Setting Workshop
was launched today morning at Crowne Plaza Muscat with the
attendance of 180 participants.
The workshop comes as a continuation to the Vision’s previous
phases. To this day, the Vision preparation has incorporated a wide
range of community input through workshops and other
communication initiatives. This latest workshop will conclude its
activities on tomorrow Thursday.
The workshop aims to engage a large number of stakeholders in
setting targets for the Vision indicators. There are more than 60
different qualitative and quantitative indicators set for Oman 2040
strategic directions, and they are split evenly between local and
international indicators.
The required targets for those indicators shall be set for both 2030
and 2040 in a clear manner. Moreover, the selected approach was
designed to guarantee the highest possible level of consensus
between participants, and to help them strike a balance between being
overly realistic or overly ambitious.
This target-setting workshop concludes an important phase of the
Oman 2040 Vision project. It was preceded by intensive preparations
including a technical workshop, and preparatory meeting for all the
participants. It is also worth mentioning that in addition to indicators
being discussed in this workshop, there are 14 new indicators that are
currently being developed with the help of the National Centre for
Statistical Information.
